Getting to know NAPPA and the Services Provided

 

The Namibia Planned Parenthood Association (NAPPA), is a registered Welfare Association (WO.141), operating as voluntary, non governmental and non profit making Association. The Association was established in 1996 and is an affiliate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

 

Having a mandate in sexual and reproductive health (SRH), NAPPA subscribes to the current Government policy on population and reproductive health. The Association plays a complimentary role to the Ministry of Health and Social Services by providing information and education and services on sexual and reproductive health to the disadvantaged, and underserved groups, especially young people.

 

NAPPA is committed to contributing to the alleviation of the prevailing social and health problems in the country, such as the high rates of teenage pregnancies, low usage of condoms and contraceptives, unsafe abortion, sexual transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS and the perceived low status of women in society.

NAPPA STRUCTURES  

Volunteers

NAPPA is a volunteer Association led by a National Executive Committee (NEC) that serve as the Board of Trustees for the Association. The National Executive Committee is comprised of nine members, made out of individuals with different professional backgrounds who devote time and expertise towards the promotion and achievement of the Association’s objectives.

 

Management

The Country Director heads the Management of the Association and serves a Secretary to the National Executive Committee. There are also Managers responsible for Programmes and Finance/Administration. The Association employs competent staff who provides technical support to the projects.

 

Our Vision

NAPPA envisages a country where youth, men, women and children enjoy healthy lives, free from HIV/AIDS. Where all people have equal access to quality Sexual and Reproductive Health information and services, and where all stakeholders work in active and dynamic partnership to fulfil sexual and reproductive rights for all.

 

Our Mission

The Association shall provide the youth with the knowledge and means of exercising their basic rights, to decide freely and responsibly on their SRH as an alternative to improving the quality of life of Namibians.

 

Our Beneficiaries

The Association’s primary target is young people aged 10-24, especially the underserved groups in and out-of-school. Secondary beneficiaries include parents and guardians of these young groups.
